We collect information you provide directly to us when you:

• Create an account (email address)

• Use our services (budget data, categories, items)

• Contact us for support

• Make a purchase (payment information is processed securely by Stripe)

2. Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only your email address and basic account identifiers necessary for authentication. We do not request or receive access to your Google contacts, files, calendar, or any other Google account data. Google sign-in is used solely to verify your identity and create your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services

• Process transactions and send related information

• Send you technical notices and support messages

• Respond to your comments and questions

• Protect against fraudulent or illegal activity

4. Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We do not store, process, or have access to your full credit card number or payment card details. Stripe handles all payment information directly, and we only receive confirmation of successful transactions along with a transaction identifier.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security measures. We use Supabase for our database infrastructure, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We implement technical and organisational measures designed to protect your personal data, including access controls and row-level security policies that restrict data access to authorised users.

6. Access to Your Data

Your personal and budget data is protected by access controls and row-level security. Our team members do not routinely access your personal or budget data during normal operations.

However, authorised personnel may access your data when reasonably necessary for:

• Providing customer support (only when you contact us for help)

• Investigating and resolving technical issues

• Ensuring the security and integrity of our services

• Complying with legal obligations or valid legal requests

Any such access is logged, limited to what is necessary, and conducted in accordance with our internal data protection policies.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist in operating our platform (such as Supabase for hosting and Stripe for payments), under contracts that protect your data

• If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process

• To protect the rights, safety, or property of Tie The Budget, our users, or others

• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you)

8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

Access your personal data and receive a copy

Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data

Erase your data (right to be forgotten)

Restrict processing in certain circumstances

Data portability - receive your data in a portable format

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your authentication status. These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of our service. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, regulatory, tax, or accounting purposes. Such retained data will be securely stored and isolated from regular processing.

11. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions, to protect your data in accordance with UK data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and where appropriate, notifying you by email.
